EuCARD-2Enhanced European Coordination for Accelerator Research & Development
EuCARD-2 will contribute to positioning European accelerator infrastructures at the forefront of global research, by building the next generation of particle accelerators. EuCARD-2 will explore ways to develop smaller, more powerful, efficient and smarter accelerators for the benefit of both science and society.  

  

TIARATest Infrastructure and Accelerator Research Area
The main objective of TIARA is the integration of national and international accelerator R&D infrastructures into a single distributed European accelerator R&D facility. This will include the implementation of organisational structures to combine existing individual infrastructures, ensuring their efficient operation and upgrades, and the construction of new infrastructures as part of TIARA.

 

Collaborations and links

LARP: U.S. LHC Accelerator Research Program
LARP consists of four US laboratories: BNL, FNAL, LBNL, SLAC, who collaborate with CERN in the context of HL-LHC on the Large Hadron Collider in order to: 

  • make more luminosity, earlier
  • collaborate in interaction region upgrades, to make even more luminosity, later
  • use, develop and preserve unique US resources and capabilities
  
LIULHC Injectors Upgrade
LIU plans to deliver reliably to the LHC the beams required to reach the goals of the HL-LHC. This includes LINAC4, the PS booster, the PS, the SPS, as well as the heavy ion chain.
  

CERN - KEK
CERN and KEK signed a framework agreement in 2009 and a CERN-KEK Committee was set up to advise the two laboratories on their future collaboration, including contributions to R&D on LHC upgrades.

  

FCC : Future Circular Collider
The Future Circular Collider (FCC) design study explores options for accelerator projects in a global context, with emphasis on proton-proton and electron-positron high-energy frontier machines. These design studies are coupled to a vigorous accelerator R&D programme, including high-field magnets and high-gradient accelerating structures, in collaboration with national institutes, laboratories and universities worldwide.
