LESS

The LESS robot for surface structing of LHC beam screens, pictured inside a 74 mm-aperture beam screen of CERN’s superconducting magnet. The robot moves axially along the beam screen via inchworm steps. The head of the robot turns to direct the laser beam in the radial direction for precision in-situ structuring of the beam screen.
