Friday 21st July saw the CERN's official acceptance of the PM57 lift, the entry point to the HL-LHC Point 5 shaft and underground galleries, whose installation represents a major milestone for the project.

Work will now begin in the underground galleries, which will last up to and including LS3. The installation of the utilities will take about two years, followed by work on cryogenics. At this date, the LS3 will have started and a new milestone of the project will take place: the connection of equipment in the new HL-LHC galleries to equipment in the LHC tunnel.
