Series production of HL-LHC superferric High Order correctors is completed

The High Order correctors for the HL-LHC project are designed to compensate for field quality errors of the main final focusing quadrupoles in the Interaction Regions of the high luminosity experiments ATLAS and CMS. They were designed at INFN LASA Milano and have been manufactured in the industry. The HO correctors will be the first magnets based on superferric technology to be installed in the LHC.

Series production of the HL-LHC High Order correctors, from the skew quadrupole to the dodecapoles, has been successfully completed by Saes Rial Vacuum (SRV). The 54 superferric multipoles were first delivered to INFN LASA, where they were tested before final delivery to CERN. Close collaboration between INFN LASA, CERN and SRV was key to the successful development of the HO correctors.
