Knowing HiLumiers is a project in which many members of the HiLumi LHC were interviewed to gain an insight into the people of the project.
WP6A Cold Powering Bees
WP6A bees provide the cold powering system for the HL-LHC magnets. They are in charge of its development, design, engineering, construction and testing.
This cold powering system transfers the current from the power converters, located in the new HL-LHC galleries and working at ambient temperature, to the HL-LHC magnets, located in the main LHC tunnel and working at cryogenic temperature.
These bees, which also develop novel superconducting technologies for efficient power transmission, work shoulder to shoulder with the WP15 bees in the integration and installation in the LHC underground areas and also with those from WP3, WP6B and WP7.
